Help us provide critical financial support to children affected by this devastating disease through our scholarship.
The Sandra West ALS Foundation is dedicated to fostering hope and resilience by providing college scholarships to empower the bright futures of deserving students, whose lives have been touched by ALS, ensuring that the pursuit of education transcends the challenges posed by this formidable disease. "ALS can take away a family's ability to provide the things that so many of us take for granted - a child's college education should not be one of those things".
Sandy West is a devoted Christian, loving wife, and dedicated mother of three. As an elementary school teacher, she places a high value on education and is devoted to health and fitness. In 2022, Sandra faced the most significant challenge of her life when she was diagnosed with ALS. Undeterred, she continues to approach life with strength and resilience. Sadly, she has seen firsthand what this disease does to a person as her close friend Marsha, who also battled ALS, passed away in 2022 after a courageous six-year fight against the disease. Sandra's journey is a testament to her unwavering faith, love for family, and determination to make positive impact despite the challenges she faces.
"I feel that GOD is calling on my family to do something for others. While others continue to fight to raise money to help find a cure, I want to raise money to help the families who are living with and impacted by this disease every day."
As a dedicated elementary school teacher, education is a cornerstone principal to Sandy's life. As a result, the scholarship aims to assist any child of a parent with ALS whose family is facing financial hardship. Our inaugural scholarship raised $16,514 for two very deserving students who were awarded $8,257 each, thanks to the generosity of many.
